Thailand Drops Second PCR Test

Thailand will be relaxing entry regulations for foreign visitors and cancelling the second PCR Test requirement on Day 5. The Test & Go scheme has resumed since Feb 1, but as of now, we are still required to take an RT-PCR test on our fifth day and to stay in an SHA++ hotel or villa.

From Mar 1 the day 5 PCR test will be replaced by a ATK self-test which will be supplied to you on arrival at Samui Airport. All you have to do is self-test in your villa on day 5 and report it on the Mor Chana App and you are free to enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Please see the new requirements below;

  • 1 x RT-PCR test within 72 hours before travelling
  • 1 x RT-PCR test upon arrival at Samui Airport
  • Minimum one-night stay in an SHA++ hotel or villa
  • 1 x self-administered antigen test (ART), and to submit the self-test result to tracing app Mor Chana

The Thai government will also be reducing the required amount of travel insurance coverage from US$50,000 to US$20,000.

Adam Keating owner of Luxury Villa Samui said ‘these baby steps will further increase tourism arrivals in the kingdom and all our premium villas are SHA++ certified so guests can book our villas and check-in on arrival we arrange everything and no need to book a hotel for the first night’.

We are hoping the second test will be scrapped completely in the coming weeks as part of the gradual reopening to overseas tourism.
